StrengthsFinder, StrengthsFinder 2.0, CliftonStrengths assessment…you may be wondering “What’s up with all of these names?”

You’re not alone in your confusion about the various StrengthsFinder names.

Most people today still reference the StrengthsFinder test, as the test that helps you identify your top strengths among 34 different strengths.

The StrengthsFinder test was developed by the Gallup organization in 1998, and in 2001, the best-selling book Now, Discover Your Strengths was published.

In 2004, the StrengthsFinder test was officially re-named “Clifton StrengthsFinder,” in honor of Don Clifton, the chairman of Gallup who helped develop the test.

In 2007, an updated version of the StrengthsFinder test was released by Gallup, and a new book was published, StrengthsFinder 2.0.

Recently, the StrengthsFinder test was renamed and is currently called the CliftonStrengths assessment. Same test, new name.
