StrengthsFinder®, StrengthsFinder® 2.0, CliftonStrengths® assessment…you may be wondering “What’s up with all of these names?”

You will find you are not alone in your confusion about the various StrengthsFinder® names out there.

Most people still reference the StrengthsFinder® test, as the test that helps you identify your top strengths among 34 different strengths.

The StrengthsFinder® test was developed by the Gallup® organization in 1998, and in 2001, the best-selling book Now, Discover Your Strengths was published.

In 2004, the StrengthsFinder® test was officially re-named “Clifton StrengthsFinder®,” in honor of Don Clifton, the chairman of Gallup® who helped develop the test.

In 2007, an updated version of the StrengthsFinder® test was released by Gallup®, and a new book was published, StrengthsFinder® 2.0.

Recently, the StrengthsFinder® test was renamed and is currently called the CliftonStrengths® assessment. Same test, new name.
